Community Partners and Benefactors

The Crown Resorts Foundation recognises it can play a significant role within the community and seeks to do so through its partnerships with leading community organisations, as well as providing assistance, donations and support to a broad range of community activities and charities. As well, the Crown Resorts Foundation encourages Crown employees to volunteer in a number of our community partners programs and facilitates the use of Crown facilities and hospitality packages for not-for-profit fundraising events.

Community Partnerships

The Foundation is proud of the community partnerships with leading charities and community service operators it and Crown Resorts maintain. These partnerships include:

Partnership with the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence, Redfern

The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) is a safe and innovative space for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to participate in life-changing programs and pursue opportunities. Since opening in 2010, the NCE’s education, sporting and cultural programs have been attended by over 14,000 Indigenous Australians from around the country.
As part of the Crown Resorts/NCIE partnership, the Crown Resorts Foundation contributes financially to the organisation and has signed an exclusive Memorandum of Understanding to provide a training facility for the proposed Crown Sydney Hotel Resort’s Indigenous workforce.

The Crown Resorts Foundation is currently helping to build employee capability and management expertise at the NCIE. NCIE staff have spent time at Crown College in Melbourne viewing the learning process. As well, the Crown Resorts Foundation is helping to facilitate more financial and stakeholder support for the NCIE through Crown’s commercial and sponsorship agreements.

Partnership with The Salvation Army

Crown Resorts has a longstanding relationship with The Salvation Army, developed over many yearsof co-operative and meaningful community engagement with Crown staff volunteering their services to assist the Salvation Army Melbourne (the 614 Project in particular) and Crown hotels have regularly donated bedding needed for their shelter programs.

The Crown Resorts Foundation has committed $150,000 each year, for the next five years, to The Salvation Army. The Foundation will work with The Salvation Army on several charitable projects including: the formulation of structured staff volunteering opportunities; formalising the collection and delivery of regular donations (of items such as blankets from Crown’s hotels); providing training and employment pathways through Crown College and funding for the new ‘Night Watch' program.

Community Benefactors

Crown provides one-off financial support to a number of not-for-profit organisations based on a needs basis. These requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Recent organisations that have received Crown Resorts Foundation donations are:

The Salvation Army’s NSW Bushfire Appeal

The Crown Resorts Foundation donated over $70,000 to The Salvation Army’s NSW Bushfire  Appeal in October 2013. The Crown Resorts Foundation was part of a fundraising group that raised over $300,000 for the emergency relief appeal. This funding was provided to help The Salvation Army provide meals, clothing, emergency bedding, goods, counselling and support to the New South Wales communities devastated by these bushfires.

Father Bob Maguire Foundation

Since 2003, the Father Bob Maguire Foundation has been working tirelessly in Melbourne to feed the hungry and house the homeless. The Crown Resorts Foundation recently provided $40,000 to the Father Bob Maguire Foundation to support their invaluable community work.

The Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan Appeal

In light of the devastation caused to the Philippines by Typhoon Haiyan, Crown Resorts provided patrons and employees at both Crown Melbourne and Crown Perth the opportunity to donate to the Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan Appeal. In support of this initiative, the Crown Resorts Foundation matched all contributions received dollar for dollar.

The Salvation Army’s Project 614 Salvos in the City Christmas Fundraiser

In recognition of the vital support provided by The Salvation Army’s Project 614 to those who live on the fringe of society, the Crown Resorts Foundation facilitated Crown Melbourne to support the Salvos in the City Christmas Fundraiser. The initiative offered patrons and employees the opportunity to donate and the Crown Resorts Foundation matched the donations received.
